St. Joseph’s School for the Blind ensures that students aged 3 to 21 reach their potential via a comprehensive education and therapeutic services plan that includes an academic, sensory and life skills curriculum.
Adult Services program encourages independence for adults with disabilities through self-directed activities that support the acquisition and practice of life skills in a safe and encouraging environment.
Early Intervention Program provides in-home services to infants and toddlers with visual impairments. Children receive instruction in vision stimulation, sensory integration and self-help skills. Additionally, the school provides a free, on-campus Enrichment Program. Through play, music therapy, infant massage and aqua therapy, children are provided opportunities to increase cognitive, social and physical development and communication under the guidance of a professional staff. Children and families participating in the Enrichment Program have full access to the school’s new Multi-Sensory Environment (MSE), a relaxed atmosphere with pleasant surroundings, soothing sounds and tactile experiences.
